The construction of Sra Pou vocational school is now finished and we architects have returned to Finland, happy that everything went so well.
It is important to learn from the users also after the completion of the building. The project will continue with a second visit to Sra Pou in 2012. The architect team will monitor the functioning of the school building during its first year and design necessary changes and amendments together with the community. For example, there have been challenges with the durability of the handicraft doors, so the design will be developed further with the local handicraftsmen. The aim is to inspire the community to plan the future of this very building as well as their whole built environment and to take responsibility over their maintenance. The school should continue to live and grow together with its users.

Sra Poun ammattikoulu on valmistunut ja me suunnittelijat olemme palanneet kotiin Suomeen. Seuraamme tiiviisti koulun tulevia vaiheita ja pidämme yhteyttä Sra Pouhun. Kouluprojekti jatkuu meidän osaltamme keväällä 2012 toisen vaiheen vierailulla Sra Pouhun. Kartoitamme silloin rakennuksen toimivuutta ja käyttäjien kokemuksia ensimmäiseltä vuodelta. Niiden perusteella teemme korjaavia suunnitelmia ja pohdimme yhdessä ratkaisuja teknisiin ongelmiin. Esimerkiksi paikallisten käsityöläisten tekemät värikkäät ovet eivät ole kestäneet sadekaudella toivotusti, joten suunnittelemme ne uudestaan punojien kanssa.
Tulevaisuudessa nuori yrityksemme Arkkitehdit Rudanko Kankkunen (www.rudanko-kankkunen.com) jatkaa työtä jännittävien arkkitehtuuriprojektien parissa sekä Suomessa että Aasiassa.
